Cahaba Water Co.
Treatment level · Whole home

Our most complete system, built around your house.

Cahaba Whole Home Signature is built around your house. We start from what your water actually needs, then build to it. It can include larger carbon filtration, a softener sized to your hardness, our best drinking-water system, UV, pressure management, monitoring, and bigger plumbing to keep the flow up. Every part earns its place in your build. That is what the assessment settles.

Whole-home pricing Quoted after sizing

How much water it has to handle is a separate decision — S, M, L or XL. We set that from measurements we take at your house.

One solid outline. The rest go in only where they are earned.
01 02 03
  • 01
    Carbon filtration, larger capacity

This is the one stage in every whole-home system we build, at every level. That is why it is drawn solid.

  • 02
A softener, if your water needs one

Broken outline. We specify a softener when we measure hard water and you want it handled, sized to the hardness we find.

  • 03
    UV, where it fits

Broken outline. UV is one more barrier at the end of the system. It fits best where water is stored before it reaches your taps.

Two things are called Signature

Here is how to tell them apart.

One sits under your kitchen sink. The other treats the whole house. They are different products at different prices, so we always write the full name.

Cahaba Signature 75Drinking water

Fits under your kitchen sink. It treats the water you drink and cook with. The price is published: $1,295 installed.

What it may include
Two decisions

This page answers one of them.

Two separate choices. What you want treated, and how much water your home has to move at once.

Whole Home Signature answers the first one. The second is answered separately, by measurement at your house, and neither one stands in for the other.

01

Treatment level

What do you want treated?

Answered on this page. Cahaba Whole Home Signature puts the widest set of options on the table. We add each one only where your water and your goals call for it.

02

System size

How much water does your home move at once?

Answered separately, by measuring at your house. We look at the pipe that brings water in from the street, and we count the fixtures that really move water. We measure your pressure twice: with the water still, and with it running. Never square footage, home value or ZIP code.

SStandard Flow
MEnhanced Flow
LHigh Flow
XLEstate Flow

A finished build carries both answers in its name — the treatment level, then the size.

Cahaba Whole Home Signature ‑ S

Yes, that combination is right. A small house with two bathrooms, where the owner wants everything: filtered water at every tap, softer water, our best drinking-water system, and UV. That is our fullest treatment level on our smallest size. Wanting more treated does not make a house use more water. How much you want treated and how much water the house moves are two separate questions, answered from two separate sets of measurements.

The components

What a Whole Home Signature build can include.

Every part on this list is specified for your house. Your water and your goals decide what goes in.

Every row below is a part this level can include. What ends up in your build depends on your water, your goals and what we measure. That is why two Whole Home Signature systems on the same street can be built very differently.

Whole Home Signature names the options. Your house names the parts. If carbon alone does what you want, the honest answer is Cahaba Whole Home Essential, and we will say so. Every part in your quote arrives with the measurement that put it there.

About the UV

One more barrier, where storage makes it worth having.

What UV does here: it adds one more step at the end of the system, after everything else has done its work.

Birmingham's water is disinfected at the treatment plant, and it meets every federal and state standard. UV here does not fix a problem. It is an addition to treatment that is already working, and we specify it where a house gives it something to do.

UV earns its place as a last barrier before the tap. It earns it most where water sits in a storage tank first. The disinfectant left in city water fades while water sits, and UV covers that gap. That is why it is standard on any storage build we do.

We specify units that watch their own lamp. A UV lamp fades slowly as it ages, so the monitor tracks output and tells you the moment it drops. The lamp rating follows the size decision, so you will see it in your sizing report.

Who this level is for

And when a narrower one is the honest answer.

Two columns, both honest. We will point you to a narrower level when that is the right answer.

Whole Home Signature is the right level if
  • You want every option considered, and a system designed around your house
  • You want several things at once: better taste, softer water, better drinking water, one more barrier
  • You store water before it reaches your taps
  • You want your water pressure managed, or you want the system to report on itself
Look at a narrower level if
  • Chlorine taste and smell is the whole concern. See Cahaba Whole Home Essential
  • Filtered water, a softener if you need one, and a drinking-water system cover it. See Cahaba Whole Home Complete
  • Only the water you drink worries you. A Cahaba under-sink systemDrinking water may be the whole answer
  • You want a big system because the house is big. That is the size question, and it has its own answer

None of those is a smaller system. They are narrower answers to what you want treated. The size question is answered the same way in every one of them.

Cahaba Whole Home Signature — the claims we make, and their limits

The widest set of options we offer, built around your house

Each part added only where your water, your goals or our measurements call for it

Sized to measured peak demand and pressure at your house

Not every component in every house. The level names the options, not the build

Not a rating of your home. The right level is the one that matches the goals in your house

Not a claim that Birmingham water is unsafe. It is disinfected, monitored, and meets the standards

Not a substitute for the utility's own treatment

The UV, specifically

One more disinfection barrier, and it watches its own lamp

Worth most where water is stored before it reaches your taps

Not evidence that city water is failing. It is disinfected and monitored, and UV here is an addition to that

We claim no certification for it beyond what its own paperwork states

The drinking-water system inside a Whole Home Signature buildDrinking water

A Cahaba premium under-sink system, chosen from the published list at its published price

Each system's certification wording appears on its own page, printed exactly as the paperwork states it and nothing beyond

We never move a certification claim from one product to another. A higher production number does not mean more is taken out

Questions

Questions we get about this.

Does Cahaba Whole Home Signature include every component you offer?
No. Whole Home Signature means the widest set of options we offer — not every component in every house. The level can include larger carbon filtration, a softener if your water needs one, a Cahaba premium under-sink drinking-water system, UV as one more barrier, pressure management, monitoring and larger plumbing. What ends up in your build depends on your water and your goals.
Is Cahaba Whole Home Signature the same thing as Cahaba Signature 75?
No, and the two are easy to confuse. Cahaba Signature 75 sits under your kitchen sink. It treats the water you drink and cook with, and its installed price is published. Cahaba Whole Home Signature treats every tap in the house, and is quoted after sizing. They share one word, which is why we always write the full name.
What size is Cahaba Whole Home Signature?
Whole Home Signature is a treatment level, so it has no size of its own. Size is the second decision, and we make it separately: S Standard Flow, M Enhanced Flow, L High Flow or XL Estate Flow. We set it from the pipe that brings water in from the street, the fixtures that really move water, and the pressure we measure. A small house with two bathrooms, where the owner wants everything — filtered water at every tap, softer water, our best drinking-water system, and UV — can correctly take Cahaba Whole Home Signature at S.
Does UV mean something is wrong with Birmingham water?
No. Birmingham's water is disinfected at the treatment plant. It meets every federal and state standard. UV here is one more barrier, specified where it has something to do. It earns its place where water is stored before it reaches your taps, because the disinfectant left in city water fades while water sits.
What does Cahaba Whole Home Signature cost?
Quoted after sizing. Whole-home pricing follows the build, and the build follows the measurements we take at your house. We confirm the final price before scheduling.

Right level. Now the size.

Size is settled at your house, by measurement. We look at the pipe that brings water in from the street, the fixtures that move water, and the pressure we read. The size answer comes from those measurements, at any treatment level.
